Peakaboo Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-09-11
Peakaboo has no accounts, advertising SDKs, analytics, or first-party tracking. The app does not send camera images or peak-identification results to a Peakaboo-operated service.
Location and coverage requests
Peakaboo uses location on the device to find and identify nearby summits. To download peak and terrain coverage for an area that is not already cached, it requests regional data from public map and terrain providers. Those requests disclose the approximate requested area to the provider. As with other internet requests, the provider receives your IP address and request metadata. These requests are subject to the provider's practices.
Camera
The camera feed is used locally to display the live view beneath the labels. Peakaboo does not record, store, or transmit the camera feed.
Saved areas and place search
You can select a place or coordinates and save peak and terrain data for an offline trip. When you explicitly search for a place, the search text is sent to Apple's Maps services. Downloading a saved area also requests that area's data from the public coverage providers described above. Saved area names and coordinates are retained on your device.
Downloaded coverage
Downloaded peak and terrain data are validated and retained on the device for later offline use. Removing a saved area removes its saved entry; shared cached files remain available to other areas and the live view. Data covers a circle around the selected point. After moving, your viewing range may extend beyond that saved circle and require additional downloads.
Purchases
Trial and purchase processing use Apple's StoreKit services. Peakaboo does not operate user accounts.
